Our Sports Central is announcing that the AIFA will have a team in San Jose for the 2010 season. Some of the comments on the discussion board are saying that several of the people involved were also involved in running the Saber Cats.

Wow...this is disappointing. I was hoping for the SaberCats (AF1). If this team plays were the SaberCats did...they will never make it, San Jose will never support a knockoff from an inferior league.

I'm finding it interesting that some af1 fans just can't resist tossing the word "inferior" around. If the AIFA is so inferior, why did af1 actively recruit Utah from the AIFA and then brag about how lucky they were to have acquired such a quality team?

because they paid the money they had to pay and they aren't going to bash a team they just signed.

An explanation I might be a tad more willing to accept if it had not been a case of af1 approaching Utah.

Utah did not show up on the league's door with a check in hand and ask to be let in.

I always find it interesting to hear comments like this I love the game indoor, arena whatevver you want to call it the AIFA as well as IFL have produced studs that came to the AFL and performed well be careful of what you call inferior some of those teams who were afl2 that folded who would have ended up playing afl1 were very similar or inferior to some aifa/ifl teams...and I see the wolves signed Omar Jacobs sounds like a pretty inferior team to me

He didn't say all the players were inferior. But compared to the Cats, they are...but he said the product was inferior. That, it is.

Exactly Viper...it's like telling me that forming a bunch of LA Clipper teams to start a league and telling me they are the NBA (AFL) and they simply aren't. Course there are great players...or at least very good here and there. But the CATs had almost two dozen players better than Omar Jacobs.

I need to back track to a bit...the Wolves are hoping to make it by drawing the old Cat fans. If they play at the HP they will draw at least half of the fans (is my guess)...but they will put half the entertainment package out and maybe that much less of a team. Plus it won't look like the AFL...i mean they don't even have the nets. So will they never make it like I said? Eh...at least the fans will get 50 or 60 balls a g ame.

I love when conversations like this to turn to personnel on the field I give the saber cats all the credit in the world for the talent they put on the field but please name me sabercats players who were so outstanding prior to thier carrers with the cats..if my memory serves me correct the cats fielded teams with former division I and ex NFL guys who then became stars in the AFL with the cats(geathers, cleveand, grieb, rowe etc) in fact...so your analogy of the CBA is far from accurate in fact monreko cittenden just signed with your ball club viper check out where he played at last year does that make him inferior no he played in the SEC for auburn..and for the sake of a good arguement please name two dozen players on the cats who were better than Omar Jacobs the QB who put together the best statistical season ever for a qb in college history(please tell me mark grieb lol no disrespect but please name the two dozen)...again I love the game fans sometimes get thier perceptions caught up in the love of thier teams from a competitive stanpoint like in college football and the different levels there isn't athat much of a gap between levels many times it's opportinity and systems for example I know several qb who went to camp in the old AFL but due to the old guard of qb's that were already in that system didn't get to play its the politics of sports it happens...

Whatch a really gotta love is former players that think everyone that says anything bad about a player is a hater. lol Seriously...you are going to play the card "name 2 dozen cat players (BTW I said close to two dozen) that are better? Tell you what...let your guy actually play in this league before you crown him the worlds best. He's done NOTHING as of yet so every player in the league is better than he is at this point.

I mean good lord he's from Bowling Green (yeah I remember that difficult Kent St game), who has he played...the world is littered with great college QB's that really are nothing. Jason White ring a bell? Most every qb from Hawaii? Teabow will be the next btw...

Truth be told your guys is probably the next Adrian McPherson or Marcus Vick...not Mark Grieb.

you can't be serious yes he's from Bowling Green and the MAAC Conference you know the conference that has produced NFL calibar qb I by know means are a hater lol that's cute I just dislike when people devalue guys because you may not know who they are or give comments and say "two dozen" players talk I can name three players on the 2008 team that were asking darren to bring omar in geathers, santil and wright and you know why ballers know ballers..I just hope my fellow san jose friend you come out and see the show.. Jason white was a one year wonder he came after josh heupfal(sp) bad example..hawaii qb's ran the run and shoot there known as system qb....

and if my memory serves me correct didn't adrian mcpherson tear up the afl in indiana and is enjoying a nice CFL career with the Montreal Aloutees and marcus vick that's an insult....Mark Grieb was/is a great arena qb no doubt.

I misread you then (my bad)...I thought you were saying this guy was far better than Grieb. I admit...I don't know Jacobs...but if those players were pushing him, then he is at least worth consideration and not dismissed. But again...takes more than just one guy to win games and the point is still there, even the clippers have one good guy...they are still the clippers.

As for Adrian when you finish a sentence with "he is playing well in the CFL"...you've lost your argument. lol For the record, I LOVED AMc out of college...but his most memorable moment was being hit by a golf cart driven by the Saints mascot. He's a back up btw in the CFL.

sj1 he is the backup to calvillio who is on his way out and that is great when you can parlay a afl shot to being drafted then a stable situation in the cfl not bad for a guy that had to leave school early
